Wrote me goodbye in ink As black as your heart After you swore we’d never be apart When a King says to his Queen ‘You took me for a pawn’ You know their love is gone When the song says to the rhyme ‘I don’t owe you a thing’ What good does it do to sing? So I cry, yes, I cry Why's this world so unkind? I try yes I try To pay no mind when I want to hang my head and die So when I’m angry at the world And I can’t set down that glass She tells me “this too shall pass”

Angelina, baby, won't you please come home Angelina, baby, won't you please come home You know my heart is aching and all my dreams have gone Well, now my bed is empty, my feet and my hands are cold You know my bed is empty, my feet and my hands are cold Come on home, Angelina, my love for you will never grow old Well, now I've tried to love you with diamonds and pearls But all that did was tear us apart And I've tried to give you everything in the world When all you really wanted to wound my heart, oh ho Angelina, baby, won't you please come home Oh, Angelina, baby, won't you please come home You know my heart is aching and all my dreams have gone Well, I've tried to love you with diamonds and pearls But all that did was tear us apart And I've tried to give you everything in the world When all you really wanted to wound my heart, my heart Well, Angelina, baby, baby, won't you please come home Well, sweet Angelina, baby, won't you please come home You know my heart is aching and all my dreams have gone That's right, baby You know my heart is aching and all my dreams have gone

LYRICS: She’s never had the blues Only promises what she's prepared to lose Makes great use of her walking shoes So she'll never have the blues She’s never lost her way Claims she can see the stars in the light of day As long as she obeys what they say She’ll never lose her way She’s never been left behind What thought could want to leave such a beautiful mind? So her sun will eternally shine And shimmer like a glass of wine She sends her energy into the galaxy Her prayer and her song But this dark universe, is just a cosmic hearse, bearing the dead along But she’s never had the blues Others’ happiness is hers to use Without a heart of her own to bruise She’s never had the blues She’ll never go without Never taste a dram of life’s doubt So soaked in faith that she can’t dry out Holy spirits in a drought She went to find herself but she found someone else Another voice in her head And as the years went by and the music died She could finally hear what it said: You’ve never had the blues...

Told them to the clouds, my troubles, ‘Cause they would not let me be I begged the clouds to take them and drift out to sea But then the clouds rained all over me Buried them deep, deep down In the earth beneath my feet But they took root in the darkness, in the damp and in the heat And their fruit is bitterness to eat Is there nothing I can do To be free of these blues? Am I lost or did I lose? Am I who or am I whose? Got no one to take away these blues Told them to a song, my troubles Didn’t know what else to do Asked the blues to bear them, like a pebble in a shoe And with a song I give them to you Is there nothing I can do To be free of these blues? Am I lost or did I lose? Am I who or am I whose? Got no one to take away these blues

Oh dear Lord… help me not to be myself Life is a hard struggle… Oh don’t you fool yourself You can choose to be passive… Or Get up, get into it and get involved Some things are not your choice Those things can silence your voice Fear of poverty A fear that won’t let you be But I see those poorer than me And they don’t realize that they are free Freed from this material world Free as a young boy or a girl How I wish that I could be An uncaged bird flying free And then... And then… In the end… You bend… …You Keep Pushing The Stone It’s a story that’s been told… It’s a lesson that’s very old Your father’s father’s father lived it too In a time long ago… In a Place only your soul knows That dirt and gravel road One you walk for redemption told Hoping to find a life that’s kind Praying to God not to lose your mind Crippled by thoughts of another day Another day being this way As the millstone turns As the desire with in you yearns As the wind pushes the sail You envision you cannot fail And then... And then… In the end… You bend… …You Keep Pushing The Stone You’ve had enough, you can’t go on… Look in the mirror, you see you’re gone You say enough of this life… you decide to move on Knowing the situation’s wrong There's got to be a better way to get along Time to look deeper into yourself Time to go beyond what is felt You circle the wagons, you gather your forces Life’s journey has a million courses Feel the strength build inside of you You know there's nothing you can not do You plot, you plan, you strategize You build, you craft, you organize And then when the moment is right It doesn’t matter if it’s day or night And then... And then… It’s the end… You tend to… …You Keep Pushing The Stone

about

"Bare Bones" is about the essence of the blues--what two bluesmen are able to create by paring back to the roots of the form. The album is a return to the kind of stripped down acoustic blues a traveler might stumble across on a back porch in Atlanta, a front stoop in Chicago, or a street corner in New Orleans, but with THP's characteristic original touch.

The eight songs on "Bare Bones" were released in installments during the late summer and winter months of 2016.
